Canon definitely had a big year in 2020, with several substantial announcements for both consumer photographers and professional cinematographers. However, it doesn't look like the imaging giant is slowing down any time soon. Apparently, we could be seeing three cinema cameras in 2021, with two coming in the first half of the year.

The two Canon EOS cine cameras we could be seeing in the first half of 2021 include the Canon EOS C50 box camera and the Canon EOS C200 Mark II.

While there's no specific release dates rumored for these two cinema cameras, rumor website Canon Rumors does speculate that the third cine camera could be released at the NABShow in October 2021. With this third camera rumored to be an 8K Cinema EOS camera, Canon Rumors states that it "seems like a logical time for the big 8K announcement".

There aren't any rumored specs for the 8K cine camera or the Canon EOS C200 Mark II, there have been some specifications leaked for the Canon EOS C50 – although there's no guarantee that these are correct.

Apparently, the Canon EOS C50 could include a Super 35mm 4K sensor (that is the same as the sensor in the Canon EOS C200). It will also use the RF mount, have an internal ND filter of 10 stops and record 4:2:0 8bit video internally onto SD cards up to 4K60 and 1080/120. Meanwhile, the Canon EOS C50 won't be able to shoot in RAW and will also lack in-body image stabilization. However, it will come with a dual LP-E6NH battery slot.

We'll have to wait and see whether these specs turn out to be accurate – and what kind of features we can expect from the Canon EOS C200 Mark II and the mysterious 8K cine camera coming in late 2021. In the meantime, we'll keep you up to date on the latest developments.
